Help Comments and markup

Add a link to a web page or another page

Make an area of a page into a link to a website, an email address, or a page in the document.

A link makes part of a page clickable. It can open a website or email address, or jump to another page of the document.

Steps

  1. In the rail, choose Comment. In the Links group, choose Web link or Page link.
  2. Drag a box over the area that should be clickable. A small field opens beside it, with the cursor in it.
  3. For a web link, type the Address (starting with https://, http:// or mailto:). For a page link, type the Page number.
  4. Press Enter, or click elsewhere on the page, to add the link. Press Esc to leave it out. Monstera says Link added. when it is made.

Good to know

  • If the address or page number is not one a link can use, the field says why under it and stays open when you press Enter.
  • While Comment is chosen in the rail, every link on the page has an outline. Hold the pointer over one to see where it goes.
  • To change a link, choose Select and click it. Drag it to move it, or drag a handle to resize it. The Properties tab shows where it goes; type a new page or address and choose Change where it goes, or choose Follow link.
  • Links are listed in the Bookmarks tab, under Links on this page, where each one's outline and colour can be changed.
  • A link cannot be removed from within Monstera yet, apart from Undo (Ctrl+Z) straight after adding it.
