An insertion mark is the small ^ symbol proofreaders use to show where something should be added.
Steps
- In the rail, choose Comment, then Insertion mark in the Markup group.
- Click the spot in the text.
Good to know
- A new mark is as tall as the text you click in.
- To change its size, choose Select, click the mark, and drag a corner, or type a Size in the Properties tab. With Use as default for new annotations ticked, new marks take that size.
- The mark carries no text. To say what should be inserted, add a reply: right-click it and choose Reply….
- Undo with Ctrl+Z.
