Help Comments and markup

Add a note (sticky note)

Place a small note icon on a page with a comment inside it.

A note is a small icon on the page that holds a comment. Readers open it to see what you wrote.

Steps

  1. In the rail, choose Comment, then Comment in the Markup group (its full name is Note). It is also in Home, Quick tools, and on the Float bar.
  2. Click the page where the note should go. A box for your comment opens there.
  3. Type your comment. To finish, click anywhere else on the page or press Esc. Ctrl+Enter finishes too; Enter starts a new line.

If you finish without typing anything, no note is added.

To comment on particular words: select them with Select text, right-click, and choose Add comment. The box opens at the start of the words.

Good to know

  • Your name is written into every note. Set it in Settings, Editing defaults page, Your name for comments; if you leave it empty, your Windows user name is used.
  • To change or answer a note, right-click it and choose Edit comment… or Reply….
  • All notes are listed in the Comments tab of the document panel.
  • Undo with Ctrl+Z.
