Help Editing text and content

Type text onto a page

Use the Typewriter to add plain text to a page with no box around it, for example to fill in a form that has no fields.

The Typewriter adds your text straight onto the page with no border, which is handy for filling in a printed form that has no fillable fields.

Steps

  1. In the rail, choose Comment (or Edit), then Typewriter.
  2. Click where the text should start, or drag an area for it.
  3. Type. Where you clicked, the box grows with your words; where you dragged, the words stay inside the area.
  4. To finish, click anywhere else on the page or press Esc. Ctrl+Enter finishes too; Enter starts a new line.

Good to know

  • If you finish without typing anything, nothing is added.
  • Font size and colour come from the Properties tab. The typeface is Annotation font in Settings, on the Editing defaults page.
  • Hebrew, Arabic and other languages work too, with the letters in the right order. For a language written from the right, choose Right to left under Text direction on the same page, so the lines start at the right edge.
  • For text inside a bordered box, use "Add a text box".
  • Undo with Ctrl+Z.
