Help Getting started

Use the start screen

The first screen shows Open PDF, six shortcut cards, your recent files and links to Settings, About and the Help centre.

When no document is open, Monstera shows the start screen. From here you can open a PDF, jump straight to a kind of task, reopen a recent file, or open Settings.

Steps

  1. To open a file, choose Open PDF… or drop a PDF anywhere in the window.
  2. To start a task, choose one of the six cards: Annotate & mark up, Fill & create forms, OCR scanned pages, Split & merge, Encrypt & sign or Export anywhere. Each card asks for a PDF, opens it, and shows the matching section of the rail.
  3. To reopen something you had before, choose it under Recent.
  4. At the foot of the screen you will find Settings, About and Help centre.

Good to know

  • Press F1 anywhere for help: on the start screen it opens the Help centre on the articles for getting started.
  • The diagnostics log is in the Help menu, as Reveal diagnostics log.
  • If Monstera closed unexpectedly last time, the start screen offers to reopen the documents that were open. See "Reopen documents after a crash".
  • The start screen appears again when you close the last tab.

This is the article from Monstera's built-in Help centre. In the app, press F1 to open the article for where you are. All help articles
