Help Getting started

Use the Float bar

A small bar over the pages keeps zoom, selection and a few everyday tools close at hand.

The Float bar is a narrow bar that floats over the pages. It holds everyday tools such as zoom in and out, selecting, the hand, adding a note, taking a snapshot and cropping.

Steps

  1. Choose a button on the bar to use that tool. Point at a button to see its name.
  2. To hide or show the bar, choose Float bar in the rail, its button in the status bar's Panels and Float bar group, or press Ctrl+Shift+Q.

Move the bar

  1. Drag the grip at the top of the bar to anywhere over the pages.
  2. Or choose the grip once, then click where the bar should go. Press Esc to cancel.
  3. With the keyboard, move the focus to the grip and use the arrow keys. Hold Shift to move further.
  4. To put the bar back where it started, press Home on the grip, or choose Window, then Reset Float bar position.

Good to know

  • The bar floats over the pages, so it can cover part of one. Move it, hide it, or scroll to see what is underneath.
  • The bar always stays inside the page area, even when you make the window smaller, and it remembers where you put it.
