Help Viewing and moving around

See two pages of a document at once

Split view shows two pages of the same document side by side, each chosen on its own.

Split view puts two pages of the same document next to each other, so you can read page 2 while looking at page 40.

Steps

  1. In the rail, choose Home, then Split view in the Display group. (It is also in Tools, Display group.)
  2. In the bar at the top, type a page number in Left page: or Right page: and press Enter. Each half shows its page, with its number above it, and scrolls on its own.
  3. Choose Both with the arrow to move both halves back or forward one page together. Each stops at the first or last page.
  4. Choose Close split view, the x at the end of the bar, to go back to one page view. Esc does the same while you are working in the split view.

Good to know

  • Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+E.
  • The page field, zoom and page buttons in the status bar act on the half you last clicked in.
  • To look at a different document beside this one, see "Compare two documents side by side".
