Help Forms

Create form fields

Add text fields, tick boxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, list boxes, buttons, signature fields and date fields to a page.

You can turn any document into a fillable form by adding fields to it.

Steps

  1. In the rail, choose Forms. In the Fields group, choose the kind of field: Text field, Tick box, Radio option, Dropdown, List box, Button, Signature or Date.
  2. Click on the page where the field goes. The field gets its usual size. To make it a size of your own, drag a box instead.
  3. The field is named for you, for example "Text1" or "Check Box2". To rename it, select it in the Fields list and change the name in the Properties tab.

Good to know

  • Choosing a field tool adds ONE field and then returns to filling. Double click the tool to add several in a row, and press Esc to stop.
  • Radio buttons: click once for each choice. The choices you add before pressing Esc belong together as "Group1", with the values "Choice1", "Choice2" and so on, and only one of them can be on.
  • A new dropdown or list box starts with three choices. Change them in the Properties tab.
  • A date field is written the way your computer writes dates. Change its format in the Properties tab.
  • A signature field is an empty place for a signature. It stays empty until someone signs there.
  • A new field has a thin dark border so you can see it, and a tick box or radio button also has a white fill. It starts empty and unticked.
  • A dot in a name groups fields: "owner.first" and "owner.second" belong together.
  • New fields start empty; fill them by clicking them. To change a field afterwards, select it in the Fields list and use the Properties tab. See "Change a form field".
  • Undo with Ctrl+Z.
