Settings holds everything you can adjust in Monstera. Changes take effect as you make them.
Steps
- In the rail, choose Settings. Or choose Tools, then Settings in the Application group, or Settings at the foot of the start screen.
- Choose a page on the left: Appearance, Viewing, Rendering, Editing defaults, Saving, OCR, AI, Integrations, Keyboard, Privacy, Updates or Advanced.
- Or type in Search settings to find a setting by name.
- Choose Done to close.
Good to know
- There is no Save button: every change is saved as you make it. If one cannot be stored, Monstera tells you it is in effect now but will not be remembered.
- Export settings… saves your settings to a file. Keys and other secrets are never exported.
- Import settings… reads a file saved that way, for example on another computer, and Settings opens again with its values. Settings this version does not use are left out, and keys are never imported: enter them on the AI page.
- Reset to defaults puts every setting back.
- Keys for AI and online services are write-only; see "Get and add keys for AI and online reading services".
- Privacy holds Show previews of recent files, Ask me to rate Monstera, Keep crash reports, Clear chat history, Clear recent files and Clear backups.
