Monstera lists every command in one window with the keys that run it, and any of them can be changed.
Steps
- Press Ctrl+/. Or open the Help menu and choose Keyboard shortcuts.
- The Keyboard shortcuts window lists each Command and its Shortcut. A command with no keys says None. This list is for reading.
- To change a command's keys, open Settings and choose Keyboard. It lists the same commands with Change and Remove on each row. Choose Change, then press the new keys. Press Esc to stop without changing anything.
- If the keys you pressed already belong to another command, or Windows or a text box keeps them, Monstera says so and changes nothing. Choose other keys.
- Reset puts one command back to its usual keys, and Remove leaves it with none. Reset all shortcuts puts every command back.
Good to know
- Some shortcuts you will use most: Ctrl+O open, Ctrl+S save, Ctrl+P print, Ctrl+Z undo, Ctrl+Y redo, Ctrl+F find, Ctrl+K search tools, Ctrl+W close tab, F1 help.
- F6 moves to the next part of the window — the tabs, the ribbon, the panels, the pages, the status bar — and Shift+F6 moves back. They are in the list, so you can change them.
- A few keys belong to one place and are not in the list, so they cannot be changed: F10 or Alt reaches the menu bar, Shift+F10 opens the right-click menu, and Delete deletes the selected pages in the Organize page grid.
- In any box you type in, right-click for Cut, Copy, Paste and Select All, as well as Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
- A change works at once, in the menus and the tool search too, and is kept for next time.
- Key names are shown in English, such as Ctrl and PageDown, whatever language Monstera is in.
