Export text writes the words of every page, or of the pages you choose, into one text file. Export text with layout… keeps columns and tables lined up with spaces.
Steps
- In the rail, choose Tools, then go to the Convert group. These two are among its last tools, so in a narrower window they are under the group's More.
- Choose Export text… for plain text, or Layout text… (Export text with layout…) to keep the layout.
- In Pages, keep Every page, or choose Select pages and type them, for example 1-3, 5.
- Choose Choose where to save… and save the file.
Good to know
- Pages are separated by a page-break character in the file.
- Scanned pages have no text until it is recognised; see "Make scanned pages searchable", or "Recognise scanned pages when exporting" to have exports do it first.
- If this copy of Monstera cannot export with layout, it says so; Export text… still works.
- The document itself is not changed, unless scanned pages are recognised first.
